PHOTOS : D’Angelo’s First Major Performance In 12 Years At Bonnaroo
D’Angelo returned to the concert stage early Sunday morning with a surprise appearance at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Manchester, Tennessee. The singer’s stage return came in the midst of a Superjam session led by Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson of the Roots, drawing cheers from the crowd on the third day of the festival.
It marked the singer’s first live U.S. performance in 12 years, having performed in Europe earlier this year.
According to the “New York Daily News,” D’Angelo and his all-star band performed 90 minutes of music Sunday morning that included renditions of Jimi Hendrix’s “Have You Ever Been To Electric Ladyland”; “Funky Dollar Bill” by Parliament Funkadelic; “What Is and What Should Never Be” by Led Zeppelin; and the Beatles’ “She Came in Through the Bathroom Window.” (Watch Video Below) Read More »

D’Angelo Making A Comeback And Recording “Voodoo” Follow Up
D’Angelo’s follow-up to his Grammy-winning record “Voodoo” is on the way (August 31). Producer-musician Mark Ronson tells Billboard.com that he and the R&B star are, quote, “going into the studio…to work a bit on his record, and I have equal parts intimidation and awe and excitement.” D’Angelo released “Voodoo” in 2000, receiving a Grammy for Best R&B Album the following year. Ronson says the singer has been “working nonstop” in order to finish this new record. Mark Ronson is best known for helping to produce Amy Winehouse’s “Back To Black” album.

D’Angelo is denying that he attempted to solicit an undercover officer for sex last weekend. AllHipHop.com is reporting that the vocalist has pleaded not guilty to charges that he solicited a prostitute. Grammy Award-winning R&B singer D’Angelo was arrested early yesterday after allegedly offering an undercover policewoman $40 for oral sex while cruising alone through the West Village — with $12,000 stashed in his SUV. Sidenote: Why are you riding around with 12 stacks in your truck?
D’Angelo, 36, whose real name is Michael Archer, was in his top-of-the-line Range Rover at Greenwich and Horatio streets at about 2:30 a.m. when he spotted a woman he took to be a prostitute, sources said.
He was arrested and charged with solicitation after asking the woman for sex, the sources said. His manager declined to comment. Read More »
