Sean “Diddy” Combs, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Ludacris and many others from the world of hip-hop are mourning the loss of Chris Lighty. The popular manager, who worked with Combs, 50 Cent, Mariah Carey, LL Cool J and more, died Thursday at the age of 44. Combs sent out a tweet saying simply “in shock,” while Diggy Simmons also said he was shocked to lose someone he considered to be not just a manager, but a member of his family. Mariah Carey and Russell Simmons, Art For Life Charity Event
Mariah Carey, Nick Cannon, and Tyler Perry are just a few of the celebs that came out to help raise raise over $2 million Russell Simmons’s 13th Annual ‘Art for Life’ charity event on Saturday.
Simmons hosted his annual Art for Life fundraiser at his East Hampton, New York home and dozens of celebrities showed up to support of the Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation, which gives underprivileged children better access to arts programs.
This yearâ€™s event honored recording artists Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon, Betsy Z. Cohen (Bancorp Inc.), Tamia and Grant Hill (The Grant Hill Foundation), and Marc J. Leder (Sun Capital Partners Inc.). The main event was hosted by CNNâ€™s Soledad Oâ€™Brien hosted the evening, while Star Jones led the Rush Kids Auction. Last night(3/21), BET aired their annual â€˜Rip the Runwayâ€™ which was hosted by Selita Ebanks and The Gameâ€™s Pooch. Up-and-coming hip-hop star Diggy Simmons says his records won’t be needing a Parental Advisory sticker. In an interview with 93.9 WKYS, Diggy revealed that he doesn’t ever plan on using profanity in his rhymes.
