Drake has finally settled on a lead single for his upcoming, debut album “Thank Me Later.” Rapbasement.com is reporting that a track titled “Over” will serve as “Drizzy’s” first release. During a concert last week at Las Vegas’ Haze nightclub Drake told the crowd, quote, “I got this single coming out that I want y’all to watch for, the single is called ‘Over,’ so when you hear it just enjoy it man cause it’s from me to you.” “Over” is produced by Boi-1da, the man responsible for Drake’s previous hits “Best I Ever Had” and “Forever.”
Drake’s “Thank Me Later” album is due in stores this spring. His previous effort, 2009’s “So Far Gone” EP, opened at number six on the Billboard 200 chart after selling 73-thousand copies in its first week.

This version of the song, featuring vocals from Justin Bieber, Jennifer Hudson, Lil Wayne, Janet Jackson, Miley Cyrus, Jamie Foxx, Mary J. Blige, Kanye West, T-Pain, Usher, Wyclef Jean and much more, is much more contemporary than the original but it fits today’s music era. The song’s original writer and singer Michael Jackson also appears in the song and video (his sister Janet sings the first chorus with footage of Mike thrown in). They also kept one of MJ’s original parts and show footage of him singing it (Nice!).

The 25th Anniversary recording features over 80 artists and performers. The recording of We Are The World 25 For Haiti embodied the same enthusiasm, sense of purpose and generosity as the original recording 25 years ago. Every one of the artists who participated, regardless of genre or generation, walked into the room with their hearts and souls completely open to coming together to help the people of Haiti.

The video shows footage of Haiti and the efforts surrounding its repair, along with footage of the artists mentioned above and more recording the song in the studio. If MJ was here he would be so happy..

Rapidly rising rap star Drake will be heading out on the road this year. Billboard.com is reporting that the emcee will kick-off his “The Away From Home Tour” in the spring. The trek begins April 6th in Charleston, Illinois, and will feature 25 shows with stops in Orlando, Boston and New Orleans. The tour will also include stops at 15 college campuses as part of the “Campus Conscious Tour.” Included on Drake’s “The Away From Home Tour” is Canadian rapper K-OS and New York pop band Francis & The Lights. Drake has also partnered with the non-profit organization Reverb to adopt eco-friendly policies for the tour. Biodiesel fuel and biodegradable and recyclable products will be used on Drake’s tour bus and backstage. An “Eco-Village” featuring environmental groups will also be included on “The Away From Home Tour.”
Drake went out on tour last year as a part of Lil Wayne’s “Young Money Presents: America’s Most Wanted Music Festival.” Unfortunately, the rapper injured his knee during the tour and was sidelined for part of the trek. Drake is currently working on his debut album, “Thank Me Later.” The record is expected to hit stores sometime this year.

The homie necolebitchie posted Young Money came out in support of Lil Wayne last night at Dolce for his official “Going Away Party” in Miami. As you may recall, Wayne was arrested in 2007 on gun charges. He will be formally sentenced this Tuesday (tomorrow) and is expected to begin his jail sentence at Rikers Island immediately afterwards.

Drake is using some of his downtime to attend to his blog. On Thursday, the “Best I Ever Had” rapper took to his computer to discuss fame and rumors about his sexuality. Drake writes, quote,

“People often ask me the craziest part about becoming famous and I’ve never had an answer until yesterday. You’ll spend half of your time defending yourself and the other half trying to stay sane resulting in you being forced to find time to be creative.”

Recent rumors spreading through the internet have suggested that Drake is gay. While he didn’t specifically address such speculation he did write, quote, “I am just urging a generation to understand that in order to have anyone of any significance in our lives that we can look up to there will be things that we must look past.”
Drake is currently resting up at his home just outside of Toronto. He had to leave Lil Wayne’s “Young Money Presents: America’s Most Wanted Music Festival” earlier this summer when he reinjured a knee that suffered torn ligaments. Drake’s debut studio album, “Thank Me Later,” is now slated to arrive on Valentine’s Day 2010. Shot out to Drake for the store …

The “Successful” music video shoot went down over the weekend in Toronto, Canada. I hope this video is better than “The Best I Ever Had” . In fact, Drake told MTV News that West offered to shoot another video for the song, and he declined. He noted that receiving mixed reviews of his clip was a great lesson.

“That career move was very important to me,” he explained at the America’s Most Wanted Music Festival kickoff in Scranton, Pennsylvania. “We’ve done such a great job of building it all up. It’s kind of like people were getting this impression of me that I’m never gonna make a mistake. I’m not made of Teflon. I’m gonna do things for myself sometimes, as opposed to what people want me to do.”

 So it appears those rumors that Kanye West and Amber Rose called it quits are false.  According to the good folks over at Deliciously Vintage boutique in Chicago, he stopped by their store this past weekend and bought a ton of chic women’s vintage clothing and accessories. When he was asked who he was buying the clothes for, he answered “You know who this is for! She’ll be rocking it in Paris, Watch!”.  The two were also spotted on the set of Drake’s “Best I Ever Had” video shoot yesterday and according to Honey Mag on twitter, Kanye & Amber are still together. she brought her “baby” dinner… she knew he was working hard” Woop to that!
