Academy Award-winning actress Jennifer Hudson will join actors Jeffrey Wright and Anthony Mackie and singer-turned-actress Jordin Sparks in the forthcoming motion picture drama, â€œThe Inevitable Defeat of Mister And Pete.â€
According to Deadline.com, the film, which is directed by George Tillman Jr. and produced by Alicia Keys, will tell the story of two inner-city kids who are forced to care for themselves after their mothers are taken away by authorities.
Hudsonâ€™s involvement in the film comes just weeks after the former â€œAmerican Idolâ€ finalist announced her role as a Broadway star in the upcoming season of the television musical drama series â€œSmash.â€
â€œItâ€™s just the perfect opportunity,â€ she said during a interview with the Associated Press. â€œItâ€™s gonna be challenging, and Iâ€™m a little bit intimidated to play this big Broadway star, but itâ€™s gonna be a great experience. I canâ€™t wait to get started.â€

“Dreamgirls” star Jennifer Hudson will be making a guest appearance on NBC’s Broadway-inspired television show, “Smash.”
The network announced on Friday that the Oscar-and-Grammy-winning star is set to appear in a multi-episode storyline, and details about her role have been leaked. Her character, Veronica Moore, is a girl who reached her Broadway dream as a Tony Award-winning star but had to pay the price for it. Her arrival will cause tension between Karen, played by season five “American Idol” contestant Katharine McPhee, and Ivy, played by actress Megan Hilty.
The “Smash” cast also includes former “Will & Grace” star Debra Messing and Hollywood legend Anjelica Huston.
Since her 2006 Oscar-winning breakout role in “Dreamgirls,” Hudson has gone on to appear in movies like “Sex and the City” and “The Secret Life of Bee.” She also won a Grammy for her 2008 self-titled debut album.
