Jill Scott turned 40 this month and dropped the new video for her latest single, â€œBlessed,â€ from her most recent album “Light of the Sun.” Jill Scott secured the #1 spot on the Billboard charts for the first time in her career with her latest album.
With sales of over 135, 000 units in her first week Scott beat out Bon Iver and Adele for the weekâ€™s top selling album across all genres.

Mariah Carey took center stage Monday night during the broadcast of the 2012 BET Honors. The pop superstar received the Entertainer Award, which she said — like everything else in her career — wouldn’t be possible without the support of her followers.
Famed filmmaker Spike Lee was also on hand to receive the Media Award, while music icon Stevie Wonder was celebrated with the Musical Arts Award. Other honorees during Monday’s broadcast included the Tuskegee Airmen, who received the Service Award; Dr. Maya Angelou, who earned the Literary Arts Award; and Beverly Kearney, who received theÂ Education Award. Monday night’s telecast also featured several performances. Along with being an honoree, Stevie Wonder also took the stage, as did Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Rowland, Common and Jill Scott.
The 2012 BET Honors was hosted by actress Gabrielle Union. The ceremony was taped on January 14th at the Warner Theater in Washington, DC.

It said that Jill Scott did not want to perform Sweet Love at all and it was all Jill’s fault.
According to sources, Anita Baker was one of the scheduled performers on all the promo press but did not appear on the show. Afterwards, Ledisi talked that someone had to sing Anita Baker’s signature song “Sweet Love”.
