“Sparkle” didn’t sparkle quite as much as some predicted it would this weekend. “Rolling Stone” reports the film — which stars “American Idol” alum Jordin Sparks and the late Whitney Houston in her final movie role — was estimated to bring in as much as 18-million-dollars over its first three days in theaters. Instead, box office estimates put “Sparkle’s” opening-weekend gross at just 12-million-dollars, which was enough for a fifth place showing. Fellow newcomer “The Expendables 2″ won the weekend with a take of 28-point-eight-million-dollars.

Jordin Sparks is showing off her 50-pound weight loss on the cover of “Shape” magazine. The singer hasn’t been shy about her desire to shed the extra weight. But she says the real reason behind her transformation was to get healthy. Bossip reports last year Jordin tweeted a picture of herself in a bikini that showed signs of a forming six-pack.
She says she kept thinking that she was in the “prime” of her life and should be “happy” and “fit.”
So she made changes that include eating better and working out.
The “American Idol” alum explains she got started by walking around her neighborhood then tried hiking.
She later got a gym membership and started taking Zumba classes.
Sparks is set to appear alongside the late Whitney Houston in “Sparkle,” opening August 17th.

Bobbi Kristina Under Investigation For Possible Underage Gambling : Final Whitney Houston Recordings Surface
Whitney Houston’s daughter is the subject of a gambling probe in Las Vegas.
Nevada law states you have be at least 21 years old to gamble.
Anyone caught gambling while under age could face up to six months in county jail or a one-thousand-dollar fine.Â The fine could be even greater for the MGM Grand.

During a night packed with tributes, Whitney Houston’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina, was visibly moved by the tribute to her late mother at 2012 Billboard Music Awards.
Bobbi Kristina took the stage at the ceremony to accept Billboard’s Millennium Award on her late mother’s behalf.
Before accepting the award, Bobbi Kristina was seen weeping in the audience, alongside her aunt Pat Houston, as Jordin Sparks performed Houston’s “I Will Always Love You.”
Singer John Legend also participated in the Houston tribute segment, singing “The Greatest Love Of All.”Â Sunday night’s Billboard Music Awards also included tributes to Bee Gees singer Robin Gibb, who died earlier in the day; to singer Donna Summer who died last Thursday; and to Beastie Boys rapper Adam “MCA” Yauch who passed away earlier this month.Â ABC aired the 2012 Billboard Music Awards live from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
The Official SPARKLE Movie Poster just hit the net yesterday the movie will hit theaters August 17. The upcoming musical drama was film directed by Salim Akil. Inspired by The Supremes, it is a remake of the 1976 film of the same name, which centered on three singing teenage sisters from Harlem who form a girl group in the late 1950s.
