Back when Kasim Reed was just starting his campaign, my homie Hannah Kain pushed a man I knew little of but heard great things about. I always wondered why people took heed to what he was doing, and soon noticed  the powerful positive energy he was giving off. I was proud to take part in this new movement of Atlanta’s new Mayor Kasim Reed.

I received a special invite to cover his inauguration. While there, I saw the homie Monica, who sat front row, and was moved to tears as he gave his speech. Also in the building was Kandi, Devine Stephens, Joseph E. Lowery ( who gave one of the most moving speeches), former mayor Shirley Franklin, and many many more.

I recall Kasim giving thanks for the support he has received during his campaign, going from only 3% of the vote to becoming the 59th mayor of Atlanta. I love how he incorporated his parents into the ceremony, as the held the Bible while he took the oath of office. A strong family is what the future needs for the children of today, and his parents are a clear example of this strength. I hope his term is as successful as his campaign for mayor.

The 59 mayor of Atlanta  Kasim Reed was thrown a surprise celebration by his industry friends to celebrate his win. I often wondered why all of Atlanta’s top movers and shakers knew who he was, and for the first time was told his story. I was told his story by one of the most influential men in the industry, Sean Diddy Combs. Puff who told everyone how him and Kasim attended Howard University, were class mates and even lived in the same dorm, along with Ryan Glover.

Diddy spoke about how when they were in college Kasim was the one that kept everyone on track, and always was the one that would keep the group out of trouble.  Diddy also spoke on how he was so moved that someone he knew, a real friend – was doing big things. He also spoke about how hard Kasim worked while in school, and even then knew he wanted to be a mayor and one day even president. It was really touching for me because it was my first opportunity to see Puffy as a friend and not just a industry mogul. I wanna be the first to congratulate my homie the New Mayor of Atlanta Kasim Reed.. here are all the pictures from the party…

Kasim Reed is now Atlanta’s 59th mayor! Last night he held a watch party that turned into a celebratory party at the Hyatt in downtown Atlanta.. Jermaine Dupri and Dominque Wilkins, famed NBA player, came out in support, as well as Ryan Glover. It was an amazing thing to see the emotion in the room when everyone heard the news that he won. I am proud and happy to say that I had the opportunity to work with this campaign almost from the very beginning. This was also my first political party. I am a proud supporter of Kasim Reed and would like to tell him congrats from Freddyo.com!

Kasim Reed brought out the city of Atlanta’s finest for his campaign rally in search for being Atlanta’s next mayor. Also in attendance was my homie Monica, Tameka Foster Raymond, Ryan Glover, Ne-Yo, Devon Stevens, Dwight Eubanks, and the soon to be leading ladies of daytime tv: Mama Pain, Mama Wayne, and Mama Lorraine [the mothers of Ne-Yo, T-Pain, and Lil Wayne]. Don’t forget to tune in to BET at 10pm to watch Monica’s show!
