Lil Wayne Gets Jail Time

October 21st 2009

Lil Wayne is going in, LITERALLY!  Weezy reportedly is taking a 8 month plea deal for a criminal weapons charge. Although earlier this year in Yuma, Arizona, border police stopped his tour bus at a checkpoint and found a variety of drugs and handguns; that is not what he is pleading guilty to.

Apparently he is being forced, to avoid a longer sentence, to take a plea deal over a criminal possessions for a loaded .40 caliber pistol found on his tour bus in New York from 2007. It’s rumored that there was a small piece of his DNA left on the gun and that’s what tied it to him.

Damnn Wayne, it sucks that it turned out this way, but then again I guess it’s only right.  Celebs shouldn’t get special treatment when it comes to committing a crime. Me, being a fan of Wayne, it’s going to suck when his hiatus comes! I guess money can’t buy you jail time or can it…

Lil Wayne Cancels Two Tour Dates Due To Illness

August 19th 2009

Lil WayneCanadian hip-hop fans got some disappointing news this week. According to MTV News, the “Young Money Presents: America’s Most Wanted Music Festival” had to cancel two Canadian shows this week after Lil Wayne reportedly fell ill. Monday’s show at the GM Place in Vancouver and Tuesday’s stop at the Rexall Place in Edmonton were both called off. It has yet to be announced if the shows will be rescheduled. Lil Wayne’s camp released a statement on Tuesday saying, quote, “Wayne, his band and crew arrived in Canada with full intention of performing but were forced to cancel the dates due to doctor-mandated rest.” The statement continues by adding that the tour, quote, “extends an apology to the fans for the cancellation.”

Lil Wayne isn’t the first artist to battle health issues on the tour. Last month, hip-hop star Drake had to be carried off the stage after re-injuring a knee that had suffered torn ligaments. Over the weekend, Drake announced that he would be going into surgery on September 8th to repair the leg. The “Young Money Presents: America’s Most Wanted Tour” is scheduled to continue Thursday night at the Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre in Denver, Colorado.

Here are the rest of the pictures from  the tour was in the ATL… I forgot to post them …

How crazy is this, Lil Wayne is facing some legal troubles after sleeping in a bit too late. Red City Entertainment filed suit Thursday against Wayne, claiming he failed to show up to a 2008 concert in the Bahamas. The show reportedly cost the company 432-thousand-dollars. Wayne reportedly passed out in his hotel room when he should have been performing at the event. Red City also claims the rapper was paid 210-thousand-dollars in advance for the gig. The amount includes Wayne’s hotel expenses and various other costs surrounding the concert that never happened. Lil Wayne’s reps have yet to comment on the lawsuit.

Lil Wayne Hires Former FBI Member To Fight Gun Charges

July 8th 2009

Hip-hop star Lil Wayne is pulling out all the stops to beat the gun charges he’s up against in New York City. “The New York Post” is reporting that the rapper has hired a former FBI geneticist to challenge the DNA results that link Wayne to the 40-Caliber handgun found on his tour bus in 2007. Bruce Budowle will argue that Manhattan prosecutors used an unreliable testing method to link “Weezy’s” DNA to the gun. Lil Wayne’s lawyers have already dismissed the allegation by the arresting officer that she smelled marijuana coming from the bus, which led to the discovery of the weapon. Wayne’s legal team has also maintained that the gun was legal and registered to the rapper’s manager, Cortez Bryant.
Lil Wayne has pled not guilty to two felony charges of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree. If convicted, he faces up to three-and-a-half years behind bars. Lil Wayne’s case isn’t the first time that Bruce Budowle has been involved in high-profile court proceedings. He previously testified on behalf of prosecutors in the murder trial of convicted wife killer Scott Peterson.
