I have to say that I was quite impressed by all of BET’s new programing.  I was given a special invitation to cover the event and got the chance to meet all of BET’s top players.  I believe,  for the last 4 years BET’s show substance and programming took a nose dive.  I just couldn’t relate at times,  to some of the shows but after seeing the new direction and the type of programing that’s on the schedule, the netowrk has won me back.  Although,  I can’t tell yall about all the shows I can tell ya that the stars you see featured here will be participating in a show.

Monica,  Maxwell,  Mary J Blige,  Chilli,  MC Lyte,  Mario Van Peeples, and Mo’ Nique were just some of the few special guests who were in the building to talk about their new shows.  Monica will have her own reality show on the network, entitled, ‘Monica: Still Standing’ and she says it is set to air sometime in October.

Look at Mo and Chilli doing the “Stanky Leg.”   Mo ‘Nique will be getting her own late night show and a reality show that could be taped in the ATL,  so you know ya boy will be getting all the exclusive pics.  Maxwell is set to make his come back on BET later this year.    BET.com will be giving you all the details really soon.

My Girls Mary J and MC Lyte will be getting their own shows,  which will focus on uplifting young women,  and I have to say that I was really moved by  the preview.  Last, but not least I have to tell yall, that BET will be bringing back,  news programming with the focus on us,  which I’m really happy about,  cause the community really needs it.  You can see all the pictures in the gallery.

Special shoutouts to Debra Lee, Stephen Hill, Connie Orlando and Anita Baker.  Oh and Anita Baker told me tell ya’ll she is still looking for a man!

Singer Mary J. Blige Sued By Utah Songwriters

Grammy-winning singer, Mary J. Blige is being sued by two Utah-based songwriters. A lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court of Los Angeles last month, accusing Blige of stealing the lyrics and music to a song called “Take Me As I Am.” The song was reportedly shopped to various record companies in 1995. Jay Brian Ballard and Kim Jones says Blige released a similar song from her 2005 album “The Breakthrough.” Ballard and Jones are suing for profits from the recording and want all copies of “Take Me As I Am” impounded. The lawsuit also named Blige’s record label, Geffen Records, Universal Music and Video Distribution.

This isn’t the first time Ms. Blige has been accused of stealing someone’s music. In December, Jermaine Jump and Michael C. Adams sued the singer claiming her tune “Enough Cryin’” was stolen from their tune “On My Grind.” “Enough Cryin’” also appeared on Mary’s “The Breakthrough.”
