Looks Like MJ’s “This Is It Movie” Will Be Hit Your MTV TV Screen Soon

The highly-successful Michael Jackson film “This Is It” is on its way to MTV. Earlier this week, MTV Networks acquired the exclusive United States television rights to air the film. “This Is It” will be made available to MTV starting in 2011, and will run until 2017. The deal includes all of the channels under MTV’s watch, including Vh1, Palladia and Vh1 Classic. The deal also extends to Viacom’s BET Networks, including the new Centric channel. Van Toffer, President of the MTV Networks Music Group, remarks, quote, “Michael Jackson has always been inextricably tied to our viewers as they witnessed his evolution from a talented performer to a global icon who redefined music. Now, with this film, we can help give his fans a chance to see his final performance.” Channels and premiere dates for “This Is It” will be announced at a later date.
“This Is It” opened on October 28th. The film follows Michael Jackson as he prepared for his 50-show run at London’s O2 Arena. The film claimed the number one spot at the box office in its first weekend, and has gone on to make more than 220-million-dollars worldwide.
