Family Clarifies Rumors About The New Aaliyah Album : Album Will Include Timbaland, Missy Elliott

Aaliyah’s cousin and co-owner of her former label Blackground Records is offering some clarification regarding the rumored posthumous album from the late R&B star. Jomo Hankerson tells Billboard.biz the record is definitely in the works, and they hope to have it out by the end of the year.

Hankerson also confirms that Drake and Noah “40″ Shebib will co-executive produce the project along with himself and his father, Barry Hankerson. Hankerson also offered that the late singer’s frequent collaborators, Timbaland and Missy Elliot, will “definitely” be involved in the new album.

Aaliyah fans got the news they have been waiting almost 12 years for after hearing news a new Aaliyah album is on the way.

 

Its crazy how it seems like just yesterday, she died (2001).

 

Jeffrey “J. Dub” Walker, a producer who worked on her posthumous self titled “Aaliyah” album (“I Refuse, “I Can Be”), today revealed on his Twitter account that this would indeed be the case.

 

 

“Just got great news today; the smash unreleased song called “Steady Ground” I produced on #Aaliyah is gonna be on her upcoming album:)”, said Walker.
