Mariah Carey and Russell Simmons, Art For Life Charity Event
Mariah Carey, Nick Cannon, and Tyler Perry are just a few of the celebs that came out to help raise raise over $2 million Russell Simmons’s 13th Annual ‘Art for Life’ charity event on Saturday.
Simmons hosted his annual Art for Life fundraiser at his East Hampton, New York home and dozens of celebrities showed up to support of the Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation, which gives underprivileged children better access to arts programs.
This year’s event honored recording artists Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon, Betsy Z. Cohen (Bancorp Inc.), Tamia and Grant Hill (The Grant Hill Foundation), and Marc J. Leder (Sun Capital Partners Inc.). The main event was hosted by CNN’s Soledad O’Brien hosted the evening, while Star Jones led the Rush Kids Auction. Musical performances included Anita Baker, Salt-N-Pepa, Melanie Fiona and Diggy Simmons.

Mariah Carey may be getting closer to finalizing a lucrative deal as an “American Idol” judge. Carey could be looking at a 17-million dollar paycheck. The singer’s husband, Nick Cannon recently spoke to TMZ about his wife’s potential new job. He said he didn’t think “Idol” could “afford Mariah.” But since it was revealed last week that “Idol” was shut out for the first time in the Best Reality-Competition category for the Emmys, some believe Fox may now be willing to dish out extra bucks for Carey’s star power. Nick Cannon And Mariah Carey’s Twins Take First Steps
Nick Cannon is learning what it takes for babies to start walking.
The “America’s Got Talent” host opens up to “People” about how his twins, Monroe and Moroccan, are taking those first steps.
Cannon says his 13-month-old son and daughter are balancing but still trying to figure out how to walk.
Cannon and wife, singer Mariah Carey, recently celebrated the twins’ first birthday on April 30th.
The day also marked the couple’s fourth wedding anniversary.
