It looks as if the cancellation of Rosie O’Donnell’s OWN talk show was just the beginning of cutbacks at the Oprah Winfrey Network. The cable channel is laying off 30 staffers in what’s being described as a restructuring of the network’s operations in Los Angeles and New York. In a press release Winfrey said as CEO she has a responsibility to “chart the course for long-term success for the network” and that the layoffs are a “necessary next step.”

Winfrey took over as CEO and Chief Creative Officer of OWN eight months ago. Having struggled in the ratings during its first several months on air, OWN has been enjoying an upswing since September with Winfrey’s own series, “Oprah’s Next Chapter,” leading the charge. The show took the number one spot among all cable networks with its broadcast of Oprah’s interview with Whitney Houston’s family on March 11th. OWN announced the cancellation of “The Rosie Show” last Friday citing flagging ratings.

Oprah and Lady GaGa recently sat down for an episode of Oprah’s Next Chapter for an intament understanding os what be going threw the pop star’s mind. Oprah’s OWN Network In Financial Trouble

Oprah’s best friend Gayle King has done something no one thought she would ever do. On her OWN talk, she invited Curtis James Jackson – a/k/a 50 Cent – to talk about bullying, but before the talk could commence, she took a moment to share with the audience her new piece of body-art.

On her left bicep, King has a temporary tattoo of the face of rapper and now actor 50 Cent along with his name. He appears in a do-rag and fitted cap. Perhaps it’s a kind gesture since Fif has a cat named Gayle and a dog named Oprah.

At one point, King joked about the possibility of a relationship together and how the tabloids would react to such a story. READ MORE

Have you taken a look at Oprah’s OWN? Naturally some critics are certainly having a good-ol-time cracking on the media mogul’s new channel due to the lack of diversity, specifically Black faces. BET co-founder Sheila Johnson had a mouth full to say about it on NPR’s “Tell Me More.”

“The only advice that I say, let’s open up your circle a little bit more. You know, we love the Dr. Phils. We love the Suze Ormans. Let’s open up. READ MORE
