Jay Z Faces Lawsuit Over “Run This Town” Sample
Jay Z is facing a lawsuit over his 2009 hit “Run This Town.” According to the “New York Daily News,” the record label Tuf America is suing Jay and his Roc-A-Fella Records for copyright infringement. Tuf America says the rapper illegally sampled the 1969 Eddie Bo song “Hook and Sling.” The lawsuit — which was filed in Manhattan federal court this week — claims Jay’s song — which features Kanye West and Rihanna — samples Bo’s track numerous times. Roc-A-Fella Records Co-Founder Kareem “Biggs” Burke Pleads Guilty To Drug Charges
One of the co-founders of Roc-A-Fella Records is facing several years in prison for his role in a drug ring.
MTV News says Kareem “Biggs” Burke has pleaded guilty to charges that he was helping to distribute more than 100 kilos of marijuana.
“High Times Magazine” editor Matthew Stang and co-defendant Geovanny “Manny” Rodriguez have also been charged in the case.
Authorities say the drug ring, which was dubbed “Green Venom,” had marijuana that was grown in Florida and California being shipped to New York and sold on the streets. READ MORE
