TheYBF.com is reporting that about 100 celebrities hit Jim Henson studios in L.A. yesterday to re-record Quincy Jones‘ 1985 production of “We Are The World.” Quincy and Lionel Richie came together to produce the 2010 version called the “We Are The World 25 Years for Haiti.”

The charity anthem “We Are the World” has been given a hip-hop, pop twist by 80 artists who have re-recorded the 1980s hit in the same Hollywood studio where the original was cut 25 years ago.

Pink, Natalie Cole, Kanye West, Jennifer Hudson, Celine Dion, Brian Wilson and others stood shoulder to shoulder Monday night on risers at Henson Recording studios, singing in hopes of aiding Haiti.

Here is the original version of the song of  We Are The World Feat. Michael Jackson Lionel Richie Cindy Lauper Steve Wonder Bruce Springsteen we are the world…

Here are some of the info -& flicks…

“This one, the enthusiasm, I’ve never seen anything like it,” said Lionel Richie, who wrote the original “We Are the World” with Michael Jackson, and oversaw the redux version with music mogul Quincy Jones, 76.

At one point during a break, the musicians broke out into an a cappella version of the pop classic “Lean on Me,” a classic moment jump-started by singer Melanie Fiona leaning on another artist because her feet were tired.

Gesturing with her hands, and shifting her headphones from ear to ear, Barbra Streisand recorded her solo over and over again, completely absorbed in the recording process and stopping only to correct her pitch.

Later, a who’s who of rappers, including Snoop Dogg, LL Cool J and Wyclef Jean, recorded an interlude written by Black Eyed Peas frontman and producer will.i.am.XX

I agree about Katrina……What I don’t understand is that there was a lot of disadvantaged families in Haiti. Some women w/ 7,8 10 lil crumb snatchers. How were they eating before the quake?? I swear I would dig all the way to my kitchen & get my food for my babies & myself. In bad situations, women do what they gotta do for their children…trust me, I have. And have friends who still get between a rock & a hard place b/c now their babies is spittin out babies. But I knew better than to have more kids than I could handle & didn’t rely on any man even w/ their fathers. We both provided. It’s nice that were going to help them rebuild Haiti but I think it’s actually a waste w/ all the natural disasters they have. Our U.S gov isnt doing as good as they portray & already owe China like almost a billion dollars. Wyclef is right. They need to be relocated. And I heard from black political news blogs that they’re not doing as bad or as violent as the white media claims. Most parts are back into the routine of everyday business, selling food & fruits, etc, etc
