The controversial film “The Interview” makes headlines again as it raked in $1 million on its Christmas day opening!
Here are the details…
One of the most talked about films of the year, “The Interview,” officially opened December 25 despite threats from those associated with the #SonyHack and some moviegoer complaints. Apparently, all the discussion shaped up into big numbers for the Sony Pictures movie because according to The Wrap, Sony announced that the film had “topped $1 million in its limited Christmas day opening at the box office.”
Only about 300 independent movie theatres across the nation showed the film in its venues and some showings were reportedly sold out. The Wrap also reports that many moviegoers were “rallying behind the film out of patriotism and to strike a blow for creative expression.” The full movie was also released digitally on YouTube and Google Play.
