Actress Raven Symone has found another way to catch backlash from #BlackTwitter! “The View” co-host made a comment pertaining to the popular topic #BlackLivesMatter.
Check out what she said below!
Yesterday on “The View,” co-host Raven Symone made a comment defending Democratic Presidential candidate, Martin O’Malley! This past weekend at a rally, O’Malley made a stated that “All Lives Matter” while discussing police brutality against African-Americans. He received a wave full of “boos” and has since apologized for his statement.
Well, Ms. Symone couldn’t have agreed more with his statement! She didn’t believe the governor should have apologize, and that he was right that it should be ALL lives matter.
I understand what the ‘Black Lives Matter’ hashtag means. It came in conjunction with everything that was going on with the police in Ferguson. You have to be sensitive in that statement, but he is right, all lives matter… I think you have to open yourself up. It should be all lives matter.
However, the newest co-host Michelle Collins disagreed with Symone’s statement about the controversial hashtag.
Why re-appropriate something that was really such a powerful thing for the Black community, something that meant so much and still means so much?” she said challenging Symone. “It’s such a positive thing. Why make that about everybody? It’s not about everybody.
Symone believes that making that hashtag for blacks only, furthers the separatism our country. But like a lot of people state, “all lives matter, but it’s just the black ones that are dying!” Do you agree? Should “Black Lives Matter” need to be changed to “All?” Comment below!
