Two Chainz is ending 2012 on a high note. The rapper’s debut album “Based On a T.R.U. Story” has officially been certified gold after selling more than 500-thousand copies. Chainz made the announcement over Twitter.
In the message he thanked his family, fans, bloggers and his entourage for their support. The gold certification caps off a year of accolades for Two Chainz. The rapper was nominated for eleven BET Hip-Hop Awards.
He ended up winning four awards for Perfect Combo, Best Featured Verse, Rookie of the Year and People’s Champ Award. Two Chainz was also recently nominated for three Grammy Awards, including a nod for Best Rap Album.
“Based On A T.R.U. Story” was released in August. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart after selling more than 147-thousand copies in its first week. The 13-track album features a number of big hip-hop and R&B artists, including Lil Wayne, Drake, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj and John Legend.
