Over the weekend Alicia Keys released her critically acclaimed song “Not Even The King” which will be a single off her new album Girl on Fire! The album is scheduled to hit stores on November 27, 2012. Keys recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly about going back to her old sound and I have to say after watching the video below I am back a fan. I like that old school Key’s not that fake pop…
Keys performed her title track “Girl on Fireâ€, at this years VMA’s. Rolling Stone. Keys expressed that motherhood and being an adult changed her sound and approach to songwriting, she spoke in more depth. Without revealing too much, she stated:
“I really believe that when people hear it they’re gonna relate to it in a way that’s gonna surprise them.”
Sources report for a pop-R&B performer, Keys has always had a more polished, mature style, but has she been hiding behind a façade over the years? Maybe not, but Girl on Fire, it seems, exposes her vulnerable side. She explained:
“I feel very different, I feel like even the writing style and the way that I’ve been able to access how I feel has gone to a different place and I feel it’s even more raw. It’s even more kind of diverse in its topics and I love how it feels.”
