Beyonce is paying tribute to Detroit, following Thursday’s news that the city has filed for bankruptcy. The star brought her “Mrs. Carter Show” to The Palace of Auburn Hills on Saturday night – and while she didn’t specifically mention the city’s financial troubles, she did take a moment to honor its rich musical history.
B performed a cover of Sam Cooke’s “A Chance is Gonna Come,” accompanied by a montage of music legends ranging from Berry Gordy Jr. and Bob Seger who call Detroit home. The montage ended with the words “Nothing Stops Detroit.” The trade publication says that Beyonce declined to comment on her tribute, and a rep told them that the montage was “a celebration of the strong spirit of its people.”
