Bishop Eddie Long is back in the news for  the way he was carried around the pulpit, and miss use of the holocaust scroll, pissing off Jewish people all over the world….
S2S reports that Eddie, who spent much of 2011 battling charges of molestation, was wrapped in a priceless Jewish scroll as his church crowned him. Sunday, Jan. 29 service, was conducted by a rabbi, who explained the significance of the the scroll before bringing Eddie out to the center of the pulpit. “This is a scroll that’s 312 years old,” the rabbi told the New Birth congregation, noting that it is was found at the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. “This is a holocaust scroll.”
 Supposedly, surrounding him in the scroll is an honor reserved for kings and symbolically hides him in the scriptures. During the ceremony, the bishop remained silent as he was draped in a prayer shawl and given the belt of righteousness that held the scroll together. Eddie, seated in throne-like chair, was then hoisted up by four members of the congregation and carried around stage while holding the scroll.
 Not only was he named a king, the rabbi designated him a prophet of Atlanta.
Jewish leaders are criticizing a ceremony that involved a controversial megachurch leader being wrapped in a religious scroll calling himself a “King” to the applause of his Church goers. Messianic Jews believe that Jesus Christ, or Yeshua, is the Messiah, putting them at odds with traditional Jewish theology. Most Jews consider the faith to be a form of evangelical Christianity.
MYfoxATL reports that Rabbi David Shiff of Congregation Beth Hallel, a Messianic Jewish synagogue in Roswell Georgia, condemned the actions in the video.
“Ralph Messer in no way represents Messianic Judaism,” Shiff said. “He is not affiliated with any legitimate branch of Messianic Judaism. His actions in no way reflect the position of Messianic Judaism. I found the presentation to be repulsive and inappropriate.”
He went on to say that the Torah is one of Judaism’s most sacred objects and the notion that it was used in a ceremony at the church was offensive  the Jewish groups said.
“The notion that he wraps Bishop Long in a Torah is horrifying simply because it’s completely inappropriate. It’s an awful way to use the Torah,” said Bill Nigut of the Anti-Defamation League. “And it doesn’t in any way approximate any Jewish ritual.”
Long was accused of sexual misconduct in September 2010 by four male former church members who accused him of abusing his spiritual authority. He settled out of court in May for an undisclosed amount.

I can understand where the Jews are coming from. i used to work at JFK airport and there were a few I guess Jewish priests that came through security and I had to tell them that they had to put their Torrah on the belt to be scanned and they scoffed at me saying it can’t get dirty and no one can’t touch it but him and blah blah blah. So my supervisor had to handle that situation. But anywho, so the fact tat they wrapped that thing around him and such is kind of disrespectful nd thet dude whoever he was should of known that especially if it was sacred as he claimed.

Second, this story is so disgusting because Eddie Long is a pedophile. He is not a man of God and he is unfit to lead others. I feel sad for his followers because they are being manipulated and misled. However, they are making these decisions on their own and I hope that they will open their eyes and ears to God’s truth.
Third, Messer is not a Rabbi in the spiritual sense and he does not represent Messianic Jews. His behavior has been on the radar for years and he is simply not taken seriously by those who truly know Yeshua. It is heartbreaking to see him misusing the Torah and the words of God in such a self righteous and unGodly way. I pray that believers will be able to see through his cover and turn their back on him and his “ministry”.
