Now, we must patiently wait…

Dwight Howard has finished meeting with five potential teams:  Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks, Atlanta Hawks, Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Lakers.  We anticipate a decision soon, possibly as early as July 10th.

The Lakers released the following statement after the meeting:

“Jim Buss, Mike D’Antoni, Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Tim Harris and I, along with representatives from our partners at Time Warner Cable SportsNet and AEG, met this afternoon for approximately two hours with Dwight Howard and his representatives Dan Fegan and Happy Walters. At the meeting, we told him how important he is to the Lakers team, franchise, fans and community, and why we feel this is the best place for him to continue his career. We are hopeful that Dwight decides to remain a Laker.”

According to ESPN LA, Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash met separately with Howard to discuss issues from the past season.

Howard said on ESPN LA:

“I had a lot of great meetings [today].”

The Rockets met with Howard first, bringing along a contingency that included Hakeem Olajuwon and James Harden. The Mavericks had Mark Cuban and Dirk Nowitski among others meet with Howard on Tuesday, the Warriors, who would be offering a sign and trade deal, met with Howard on Monday and the Hawks also met with Howard on Monday.

As much as I would like to see him remain a Laker, I think he’ll be heading out to H-Town to play with the Rockets.  Although, the Lakers have made their effort to court him, using billboards and hashtags.

Who will it be? We should know soon. If he does end up in Houston, remember who said it first!

Where should Howard play next season?  Would you guys like to see him come home to the “A”?
