It has been a year since President Obama became President of the United States. Republicans have used the president’s kindness as weakness. He tried to bring everyone together, but many remain partisan. He opened the doors to open talks with the opposing party, and they still gave resistance. He is not a miracle worker, but I feel overall, he has done the best he can during his first year with the situation he was placed in (2 wars + recession). I say give President Obama a round of applause…he still has 3 yrs left. There is still hope, and we are progressing. You are the inspiration to millions. Do your thing Mr. President…do your thing.

But it WAS President Obama’s “ruling-from-the-center” that gave the extremists, in the Republican party “footing,” in said party! He was given a mandate and SHOULD have proceeded WITHOUT-DELAY in putting into effect said wishes/demands!
Now, we have this sad, but real, loss of Ted Kennedy’s seat in Massachusetts. How does one go about loosing Ted Kennedy’s Senate seat – immediately AFTER his passing? ….I watched, in stunned-disbelief, as those election results came in! Now, health-care reform lies in ruin; it’ll be business-as-usual for the insurance companies and the banks will YET continue to run-amok!
So President Obama does what Warren Buffet, and the “learned/schooled”, advised: He GAVE to the banks; what did the banks do? They “horded,” and claimed that they’re “taking leverage out of the system!!” WTF!!! …Consumers with OVER 700 FICO scores CAN’T get loans!
We, the taxpayers, GAVE the banks funds, took toxic debt off THEIR books, expecting said funds to be lent – in an attempt to make said institutions “WHOLE!” But what do they do? They HOARD and raise fees! …Even though there’s recently passed legislation, protecting credit card consumers, they STILL managed to raise-fees on Credit Card Consumers/Users!
Freddy, did you know that those same “bailout-funds” we lent the banks, are NOW being used to undermine President Obama’s Banking Overhaul Plans/Proposals? …Bloomberg Financial News, not too long ago, did a story on the-NOW-record-amounts-of-Lobbyists-in-Washington, EMPLOYED, by said Banking Industry, whose ONLY intent WAS/IS to subvert, undermine and sabotage “any-and-all” overhaul of the nations Banking Industry! Freddy, ANY ATTEMPT, by this administration, to reform the banking industry can ONLY be seen as a “THREAT” to their “M-O” of obtaining profits!
Said Banks, can NO-LONGER “borrow-low-and-lend-high!” NO, speculation and leverage are STILL the “M-O” being used, and IF said institutions made “bad-bets,” they’re NOW TOO BIG TO FAIL – as witnessed by AIG, and the likes! So what remains are institutions, WHOM speculate and whom, if incur-loss, can claim “TOO-BIG-TO-FAIL,” and will wait for Uncle Sam to bail THEM OUT! … But ONLY if we ALL could live OUR lives “without-consequences” – due to OUR bad-judgment/actions, intentional or NOT!
Freddy, in closing, if you look at the banks, they’ve increased their commodities trading departments/sections/divisions – as the “NEXT-BIG-THING” will be the surging, if NOT booming commodities trade(s)! Gold and the precious metals are “but the first!” …Any economic recovery will bring inflation, which will “spike” the price of said commodities; which in-turn, will ONLY cause MORE PAIN! …You can bet, any attempt to “reign-in” any commodities speculation will DRAW THE WRATH of said banking industry, putting their “armies of saboteurs to their nefarious-work!”
You will be correct to question the logic of having any semblance of an “economic-recovery” without “reasonable” fuel prices! But, there-in, lies the rub: you can’t have inflation, which is desired, WITHOUT the dollar-ITSELF-DEFLATING, and commodities, in this case, Oil-inflating-in-value , as said is “PRICED/Traded” in U.S. currency!

Speaking from a non bias point of view, I think that Obama tried to please everybody, which projects a major sign of weakness to the public and betrayal to those that voted for him. You have to be able to walk upstream in a waterfall of right wing conservatism, without wavering, and Obama did not do that, so what ended up happening in his process of trying to please everybody, he lost a lot of his structural support, while failing to gain the republican base that never intended on deviating from their traditional disposition in the first place, it’s like trying to fill a cup with liquid that has a hole in the bottom of it… It aint gonna happen! meanwhile you have to deal with the fact that you cannot recoup the loss, all you can do is patch the holes.
OMG!!!!! Here we go again with the Obama bashing. Let the man work!!!! We sat quietly while the last administration screwed up and screwed us out of everything!!! Now we finally have a president who is truly concern about the people and we’re bashing, fighting and carrying on like idiots!!! The banks have screwed up and I hope the President finds out who did what with the money and damn it give it back!!!! I think he’s doing a find job, no, an awesome job!!! Republicians you had ‘EIGHT’ long years and what we have today is a situation trying to fix what you sit for eight years on you butts and just screwed the people outof money. Okay, wall street – how do you earn a bonus from a company going broke???? Our president is a good man and a good president, just let him work! Louise, honey, take a deep breath. My post was not meant to bash president Obama, I voted for him this time and will do so next term, but what I will not do is act like I agree with everything that he has done. Yes I do have my opinion and will continue to have one, no matter who’s in office. I give Obama a 8 out of 10 overall in performance. the issues I stated above are the things I do not agree with him about. To be honest, I made a lot of money during the bush administration and yes I’m a black woman. Do I agree with most of the things that Bush did while in office? HELL NO! Obama is human as the rest of us are, and yes he makes mistakes. You cannot please everybody, the sooner he learns that, the better.
