A history teacher in Dahlonega was placed on administrative leave Monday after she let four students wear Ku Klux Klan outfits in a historical reenactment. Catherine Ariemma, a five-year veteran with the Lumpkin County school system, teaches an advanced placement history class at Lumpkin County High. Her students were filming reenactments of various historical periods , and four donned Klan outfit. Students saw them as they walked through a hallway while wearing the costumes to an outdoor shoot, and the parents of an African-American child later complained about it.
This is a bunch of bull. What would you do? I teach kids with special needs and I wouldn’t dare to ask someone to play Radio.- Courtney L.
wow court…you uhhhh…..pretty much said it all
:::::logs off :::::
It is the truth!
they are doing a historical reenactment…. but not only do i blame the teach i also blame the kid’s parents for letting them leave the house like that, regardless if they were doing a historical reenactment both parents and the teacher would of known it’s unacceptable and it would raise concern.
not that serious courtney….your a drama queen
I am not a drama queen. I just express myself with color!
u basically said it Courtney. Because although we have come a long way from that time period it still is not cool to do something like that. Just because we are in 2010 doesn’t mean the wounds aren’t still fresh for the families who have gone through or lost loved ones to this mess. There are just some things that should never be done and think this is one of them! #imjussayin
I’m not gonna take it as far as yall are, but I think the teacher could’ve used more discretion as far as the locale. Why in the hell would she allow students to walk through a crowed lunchroom wearing KKK robes? That is really bad judgement on her part considering the fear, anger, and resentment that is caused by merely seeing KKK attire. She obviously wanted to incite some kind of emotions and cause publicity. She aint slick! I see right through you Beige Lady…
