50 Cent Says Drake Does Things “He’s Not Permitted To Do”

50 Cent is weighing in on one of hip-hop’s rising stars. During a recent conversation, 50 stated that he likes Canadian emcee Drake, but feels he’s allowed a little more creative freedom because of his image. Fifty explains, quote,

“He has momentum with his music, but the things he’s able to do are things that I’m not permitted to do ’cause of the perception of me.” Fifty Cent points to Drake’s latest single, “Find Your Love,” as evidence that “Drizzy” is allowed to get away with exploring a more R&B-inspired sound. Fifty adds, quote, “I won’t be permitted to do that because they expect me to kill someone on the song.”

Despite his perceived inequalities, 50 Cent says he would have no problem doing a track with Drake. He remarks, quote, “Yeah, why not? He’s talented.” Fifty Cent’s fifth studio album, “Black Magic,” is expected later this year, while Drake’s debut release, “Thank Me Later,” drops June 15th.

I use to be a die-hard 50 fan when he first came out (what can I say I was a young teenager), but I got turned off when he started “shower singing” on tracks, which is exactly what he criticized Ja for doing. Nobody told him to come out the gate and start beefing with folks. His records, his comments, and the image HE help perpetuate is what got him stuck in that “gangsta” image. Granted, I know the music biz is grimy and loves creating these images, but his interviews didn’t help him. He’s been in the spotlight for what now, 7, 8 years now? When you MOSTLY make records about being shot, slanging dope, and killing what can you ask for? Drake didn’t do that. He never tried to create a persona that would lead consumer to believing he’s a thug. So damn right, I can listen to him make an R&B, Neo-Soul, Hip-Hop track, because he wouldn’t be hypocritical, and 50 would.

*just a sidenote* I have absolutely nothing against 50, and I wish him nothing but the best. And I give him even more kudos for taking acting serious, which many singers/rappers don’t do when they try to break into that side of the entertainment biz. I ain’t naming no names, but I’m guess ya’ll know the main culprit. lol
