This Aaliyah biopic seems to get more dramatic by the day; Lifetime plans on introducing the late singer’s relationship with R. Kelly.
Check out the details below.
Yes Lifetime is taking no prisoner’s with their unauthorized biopic. The movie will touch on Aaliyah’s interesting relationship with her former mentor R. Kelly. We all know the rumors and accusations about R. Kelly turning from professional mentor to a marriage when Aaliyah was only 15-years-old. Executive producer Debra Martin Chase tells the “New York Post’s” “Page Six” that “Aaliyah’s personal and professional relationship” with Kelly will be “explored with care” in “Aaliyah: Princess of R&B.” She also says filmmakers plan to depict Aaliyah’s life with “the utmost respect.” Disney Channel star and “Dancing With The Stars” alum Zendaya Coleman will play the singer, who passed away in 2001 at the age of 22.
Aaliyah’s family is not pleased with Lifetime’s decision to put the singer’s life on screen without their input. They are planning to try to block the film’s release. Despite their disapproval, the family asks that Aaliyah’s fans be “respectful” to Zendaya.
