Bishop Eddie Long Responds To Accusers

The infamous Bishop Eddie Long, after News Channel 2 here in Atlanta recently interviewed two of his accusers (see here), has decided to speak out! In a message to parishioners posted on his website, he writes:

New Birth Members,

We have a long history of dutifully serving those in need in the local and global communities and we will continue to do so. We are committed to the calling of a strong, viable and relevant ministry of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Unfortunately, we are in the media again and people are wondering what I am going to say. All I have to say is what we stated earlier. All parties involved decided to resolve the civil cases out of court. The decision was made to bring closure to this matter and allow us to move forward with the plans God has for this ministry.

I will continue to honor and abide by my commitment of confidentiality and restraint as it relates to the resolution of the civil litigation and will not be diverted from the important work of the ministry.

I thank God for your faithful support of my journey to South Africa where thousands where blessed and more than 700 people gave their lives to Christ. We also were able to sow more support into the HIV/AIDS Hospice in Johannesburg that we partnered with last year. We built a wonderful bridge of relationships with pastors and community leaders to further establish the Kingdom and bless others.

I love you and thank you for your continued commitment and dedication.

Your Pastor,

Bishop Eddie L. Long

The two boys are giving up their $2 million dollar settlement to write a tell-all book. They should come and sit with me first, and let FreddyO tell the story.

What do you think?

They need to leave that man alone. I don’t know if he did it or not… and it’s nobody business but his and them boys and the LORD. But the bible do say something about not coming up against a true man of God…. and you can’t say he ain’t or is.. it’s not our place. So it’s best not to say nothing cause you will put a curse on yourself basically from God. People should be careful. I think these clowns are just money hungry and will do anything. Don’t nobody want to read that book… why would they when they don’t even know if its true about what happened. Clowns.

Uh, the people were expecting you to come clean and say what you DID or DIDN’T do, dude. Stop continueing these charades by sweeping your mess under the rug, while your blind flock misguidedly walk over the mounting pile beneath. I hope the victims will continue to tell their story over and over, until this crock of a pastor shows some kind of authentic acknowledgement of the situation or until we get the truth! Eddie Long’s cult needs to be obliterated, and fast.

    Hmm, 

  4. Pastors are people, too. They have faults, but because they’re in positions that hold them to a higher ethical standard, they can’t afford to get caught up in scandals like these.
The bottom line is Eddie settled. When you do that instead of fighting it, you look guilty. Sorry, Bishop.
These boys are gonna milk this cow as much as they can. If they pass on a $2mil deal to write a book, a publisher has offered them more than that!
Damn, shame but what’s done in the dark must come to light…
