Chris Bosh’s Baby Mama Applies for Food Stamps

While Miami Heat star player Chris Bosh is playing in the NBA Finals, his daughter is on food stamps and is about to be put out of her home.  Read the details about the story below…

According to Gossip Extra,

As Chris Bosh prepares for the Miami Heat’s third game in the NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder, his baby mama has applied for food stamps.

In her first interview about the legal battle that Bosh and former live-in galpal Allison Mathis have been waging in three states, Mathis’ lawyer tells me Orlando resident Mathis was laid off from her gig as a secretary in a construction company and this week applied for federal food assistance.

Mathis is also expecting to see her home go into foreclosure because the child support Bosh is paying doesn’t cover her mortgage!

What’s more, the tall-head’s request to take his and Mathis’ three-year-old daughter to London this summer to watch him play in the Olympics has been denied by an Orlando judge.

For two years, the ball player has been battling Mathis in courts in Orange County (Florida), California and Texas on anything from child support to banning her appearance from VH-1’s Basketball Wives to how much time he spends with the child.

Believe it or not, says Carey, Bosh pays her a mere $2,600-a-month in child support!

According to state guidelines, someone like Bosh whose yearly salary is in the $18 million-range should be paying about $30,000-a-month. So Carey asked a judge to adjust the child support.

  1. I LOVE IT!!! She wasn’t with him shooting in the gym!!!

Some folks don’t even earn $2,600 a month. Go find another job, woman and stop trying to bank off his blood, sweat and tears. In fact, if she was so worried about the child’s well being, she would do like Wade’s BM and let him take custody… like that’s gonna ever happen again.

My son’s mother tried to pull the same crap and she went 9 yrs without a job and after shelling out a total of $11k (earned $42k, you do the math) in child support and arrears last year, not including football fees, school uniforms and supplies, she has found a way to turn him against me for not continuing to do the “extra gifts”. Then has the nerve to fight me on claiming him for EIC, when she doesn’t even work. That’s easily done when you live in another state. Quite honestly, according to her Social Security Statement, she has legally earned less than $20k in my son’s 14 yrs on this planet. He’s earned more in 4 yrs just for being my son.

Contrary to popular belief, it’s not always the father… the percentages are far more closer than it appears to be.

This is for the person who left the comment prior. Your are right… Some folks don’t earn $2600 a month. We aren’t speaking of some people we are speaking of Chris Bosh who clearly earns near 20 million a year. Accoding to any STATE, the custodial parent is to recieve a percentage of the net pay of the non-custodial parent. For 1st kids, that percentage is rougly 20%, not to mention that the non-custodial parent is to pay 50% of medical and educational expenses. For child support alone, she should be receiving over 3 million per year. Not to forget including medical and child care/educational expenses. As for you and your 42K paying 11k last year. Not sure what state you reside in, but 20% of your 42k is over 8k yearly and that is only support, its not including your responsibiliy to provide 50% pf medical and education expenses which could very easily and fairly equal 11k or more yearly. A child is not a pay check and being a custodial parent is a 24/7 365 job. Those who are custodial parents provide 100% of life, income and everything to the constant care of that child. It is an utter shame that you or anyone would place a dollar amount on a child or have to be forced to come to court to be ordered by a judge to provide for a child you helped create. In my opinion you are worried about the wrong things here, her social security statement is not your concern. The judge doesn’t care about what she makes, if she works part time or only makes 20k a year. A judge care about whether or not she is providing a stable, healthy environment for the child, the judge only care what you make and according to whatever that is, the judge will decide the amount that you are responsible for. A real father doesn’t complain, he goes above and beyond the call of duty for his children and never needs anyone to force him to do for his kid. Trust me, if you are writing ignorant things like this on the wold wide web then this is how your truly feel and if you feel this way maybe your son is just a smart little boy who picks up on how much of a penny pinching dollar counting dead beat his dad is. Oh and FYI, I married to my children’s daddy, I just HATE reading ignorance. My views on BOSH, (I was a Heat fan until NOW) Take care of your kids. I pray that women gets every dollar she is entitled to for their daughter. He should be utterly ashamed of himself.

    Heated,

Let me start by saying I’m a childless, single woman. So I admit to not knowing the first thing about the ins and outs of parenting save that I was raised by a single mom and a father who did pay child support (and that’s where our relationship ended). However I take issue with your comment that the OP was reducing his child to a paycheck when you did the exact same thing by calculating what Bosh should be paying his BM. And if we’re counting one parent’s money let’s count both! Now I pointed that out only to say that there are several dynamics at play when co-parenting – money being one of them. I think I agree with your sentiment that ultimately child support payments should be commensurate with the support-paying parent’s salary. However we must remember that there are some important details missing from this story such as: what’s the custodial agreement, he’s been a highly-paid athlete for well-beyond his daughter’s life span so how did he come to pay such a small amount in the first place? Cases like this also beg the question: should she not have to work because her BD is balling (literally and figuratively)?

Too, I personally find it suspect that Ms. Mathis conveniently lost her job and quickly applied for food stamps at the same time Chris is in a championship series. Since I don’t know how long she’s been laid off it’s probably safer to question the timing of the story hitting the media. I’m sure she also qualifies for unemployment too since she was laid off and not terminated. So is that Chris’ fault too because she got laid off and possibly receives UE benefits? Something in the milk ain’t clean. I’m sure there are logical explanations for all my questions that I’m simply not privvy to as someone without access to the legal documents surrounding this situation. I guess I responded because it’s so easy to read a headline like this and assume the worst without being given all the facts. by no means am I letting bad parents (celebrity or no) off the hook for not seeing after their children both financially and otherwise. It’s just important that both sides of a story are examined.

I’ll end by saying this: when it comes to making the CHOICE (unless a woman is raped or otherwise impregnated against her will) to become a parent both parties must know it’s not a choice to be made blindly. Women who bitch about their BD and men who bitch about their BM must remember that at one time they enjoyed the pleasure of this person’s company and that it’s this same person who is now equally responsible for raising your child. Co-parenting isn’t easy I’m sure, but in situations like this I always wonder who’s watching the kid while the adults are counting each other’s money!

What she has not mentioned is that she is married to another man, so bosh has no legal obligation to shell out for her life style.

2600 IS WELL ENOUGH TO LIVE OFF OF AND HAVE A GREAT LIFE.. CLEARLY SHE CANT MANAGE BUT ON THE OTHER HAND SHE SHOULD BE GETTING WAY MORE FOR THAT GAY MAN BABY SHE STUPID AND HER LAWYER DEFENSE IS TOO FOR NOT GETTING HER ENOUGH MONEY TO SUPPORT HER AND HER BABY…. THATS A MESS TO LET YOUR BABY MOTHER APPLY FOR FOOD STAMPS AND YOU MAKE THAT AMOUNT OF MONEY YEARLY…. A DANG SHAME !

I do not at all feel sorry for Chris Bosh’s daughter’s mother. He does play court mandated child support, which he is required to do. Child support is meant to be child support and not adult support. Additionally, when a parent agrees to be the custodial parent (as Ms. Mathis did), they agree to bear the majority of emotional and even financial support since the child will reside with them. That is another reason why the custodial parent receives child support. If Ms. Mathis is as destitute as she claims, then Mr. Bosh should have full custody of his daughter as he is fighting for. Moreover, Ms. Mathis is also neglecting to mention that she did not want her daughter to go to London; because if Mr. Bosh had his daughter full-time over the summer; Ms. Mathis might not receive any support over the summer months since the child would be with her father full-time. In summary, Ms. Mathis should not have become pregnant and had a child if SHE did not have the means or skills to take care of that child. You have to think, what if Mr. Bosh got injured (a large reality in organized sports), and no longer had that huge paycheck? What if God forbid something happened to him and she no longer had his support? You mean to tell me she could not support her child? Ms. Mathis needs to spend her time and energy into gaining the skills and means to live the lifestyle that she feels Mr. Bosh should afford to her; rather than arguing over child support!

How does she even qualify for assistance with receiving what amounts to a teacher’s salary in child support?
