Rihanna and her navy should all be rejoicing today as the R&B/Pop sensation has made some history. Well technically tied for history as Billboard reports, her new single “Work” off her latest album Anti reached number nine on the Billboard 100 chart which makes it Rihanna’s 27th top ten hit. She now ties Mariah Carey, Elton John, and Janet Jackson for fifth most top 10s in the charts top 100 history.
That is extraordinary company to be in, then factor in the only people that are above in terms of hits are The Beatles, Madonna, Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder. What Billboard notes and what you may be thinking about also is how young Rihanna is. At age 27 she has reached this spot faster than any other solo artist.
Can Rihanna actually end up owning the record is the only question that remains now? Madonna has the top spot with 38 so Rihanna needs 12 more top ten records to take the spot and that assumes Madonna does not have any more top ten records between now and then. Since she reached 27 at age 27 maybe she will achieve the same at age 39.
