The unfortunate spread of the coronavirus has continued to affect all sorts of major conferences and events in the United States and around the world. In an effort to minimize the exposure to and spread of the coronavirus, two major music festivals in California have now been rescheduled to take place in October.

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, otherwise known as Coachella, which was supposed to take place over the second and third weekends in April has been moved to the weekends of October 9 and October 16. The Indio, California event’s lineup included popular acts like Megan Thee Stallion, Frank Ocean, and Travis Scott.

Stagecoach, a country music festival also to be held in Indio, CA has also been moved from its original dates of April 24-26 to the weekend of October 23. Billy Ray Cyrus, Lil Nas X, and Carrie Underwood are just some of the performers slated to appear.

Goldenvoice, the organizers of both music festivals, posted on both of the festival websites and their subsequent social media pages the following notice:

“At the direction of the County of Riverside and local health authorities, we must sadly confirm the rescheduling of Coachella and Stagecoach due to COVID-19 concerns. While this decision comes at a time of universal uncertainty, we take the safety and health of our guests, staff and community very seriously. We urge everyone to follow the guidelines and protocols put forth by public health officials.”

The notice goes on to say that all purchases made for the original dates will be honored for the new October dates.

This latest news comes after the cancellation/rescheduling of a number of other events due to fears surrounding the coronavirus including the SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas, St. Patrick’s Day festivities in Ireland and Boston, MA, the New York International Auto Show, and even the release of the latest James Bond film “No Time to Die” has been moved from April to November.
