Damon Dash is coming clean about his rift with Jay-Z. Dash tells TheCombatJackShow.com that there was never any bad blood between him and Jay before Roc-A-Fella Records was sold to Island Def Jam back in 2004. But things changed around the time it was announced that Jay-Z would become president and CEO of Def Jam Records. Dash says Jay-Z’s actions during his time as CEO were a “betrayal to the company.” He says he wishes Roc-A-Fella Records still existed and pointed to other longstanding hip-hop labels such as Cash Money and Bad Boy Records who are still in business. Damon adds that he was “disappointed” that their friendship fell victim to the Roc-A-Fella split. Nevertheless, Dash insists he’s “proud” of what Jay-Z has managed to accomplish. He also says he’s content with his various business ventures outside of the music industry.
What Damon Dash is failing to realize is that Jay-Z left them behind because they didn’t want to grow into something other than being rappers. If you don’t evolve you get left behind plain and simple. As you can see he can’t get past Roc A Fella! He’s like a lost child in Grand Central Station so much going on and still lost.
It’s sad to say that sometimes people change and out grow one another…i must add the Rocafella era was one of the greatest in Hip-Hop however and its truly missed.
