Drake’s Ex-Girlfriend Sues Him Over “Marvin’s Room”

A woman claiming to be Drake’s ex-girlfriend is suing the rap star over his hit single “Marvin’s Room.” “Karencivil” says Ericka Lee filed a lawsuit last week in California federal court demanding that she be declared a co-writer of the song. Lee claims she and Drake had a romantic and business partnership in 2010 and 2011. During that time, she alleges that she helped create “Marvin’s Room” with Drake. Lee says she even has text messages from Drizzy in which he confirms that she helped write the track. Lee states that once “Marvin’s Room” was released, their relationship ended and got ugly in a hurry. Drake reportedly offered Lee two percent of “publishing royalties,” and then began making threatening phone calls once she hired a lawyer.

Along with being named a co-writer, Lee is also seeking damages and disgorgement of profits. Drake’s reps say Lee’s lawsuit is “entirely without merit,” and they look “forward to being vindicated in court.”
