James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond is denying new reports that say he was behind the 1994 shooting of rapper Tupac Shakur in New York City. Lawyers for the former hip-hop manager have issued a statement in response to an article that was recently published in “The Village Voice.”
The article, by Chuck Philips, said Rosemond made the admission during an information exchange meeting with authorities regarding his drug trafficking case last fall. Now, Rosemond’s lawyer tells Allhiphop that Philips’ article got the story wrong.
Gerald Shargel says Rosemond was indeed asked if he participated in the robbery and shooting of Tupac Shakur at Quad Studios during the information exchange, but says his client “categorically denied any participation” in the crime.
Shargel emphasizes, “There never was an admission to the assault” and says Philips has not produced any copies of the confession he alleges Rosemond gave up because it is “false information.” Philips previously pointed the finger at Rosemond in a piece he wrote for the “Los Angeles Times” back in 2008. However, the story was retracted after some of the FBI reports cited by Philips were revealed to be forgeries. Rosemond was recently convicted on multiple counts related to his ties to a drug distribution operation.
