Cynthia Bailey chats with us about her new Bailey Agency Doll on the Prettie Girls Doll Line. A doll that’s now available just in time for the holidays and a doll that every little black girl would be proud to carry.
Check out the interview below.
Cynthia Bailey is winning and she’s keeping black girls in mind as she builds her brand that caters to inspiring women to feel good, to look good, and to do good. Cynthia Bailey’s feel good brand seemed like the natural collaborator with The One Dolls Project a business that strives to make little girls of color feel good about themselves by producing dolls that look like them. Cynthia Bailey joined with husband Peter Thomas and their celebrity friends came together to celebrate The Bailey Agency Doll and celebrate the beauty of black women. Check out our interview with Cynthia below:
Dea & FreddyO: Hey Cynthia! Congrats on the release of your new doll! We are ecstatic for you and this is such a good look! We want to know what was your inspiration in creating your Prettie Girl Doll?
Cynthia Bailey: The inspiration behind The Bailey Agency Doll was my school the Bailey Agency School of Fashion. Most of my kids who come to my school age ranges from five to thirteen years old. I grew up playing with dolls and I never had a doll that looked like me. All of my dolls were white, had long blond hair, and blue eyes. So I thought creating my doll could be an extension of what I do at my school empower and inspire young girls and put a product out there that could relate to them. I wanted to show them a doll that look like me.
Dea & FreddyO: The Bailey Agency Doll is beautiful. Did you have creative license when it came to creating her?
Cynthia Bailey: I had all of the creative license! Any Cynthia Bailey project I am hands on and it’s always 100% my creative vision. Now, I do listen to folks who know more than me but at the end of the day it has to fit my brand and my values.
Dea & FreddyO: She’s right on time for th holidays!
Cynthia Bailey: That she is! She is right on time for the holidays. She would make an excellent Christmas gift. She’s $69.95 and you can find her at www.CynthiaBaileyDoll.com.
Dea & FreddyO: Can we pick her up at BarOne?
Cynthia Bailey: You know you might be able to pick her up there as well! We are working on that but today you can definitely ger her at www.CynthiaBaileyDoll.com.
Dea & FreddyO: The premiere party was awesome Cynthia! We loved your little models rocking thier fros. Who were they?
Cynthia Bailey: Those are some of my students from the Bailey Agency. Those little girls were my inspiration for doing this doll. I have hundreds of girls who are beautiful, confident, and open to wonderful ideas and products. I channeled them in this creation.
Dea & FreddyO: Tell us about The One World Doll Project
Cynthia Bailey: I partnered with The One World Doll Project to do my doll. Actually Ms. Stacey McBride-Irby, come on over here Stacey! Stacey is the mastermind behind this whole thing. We collaborated together to make sure this doll represented Cynthia Bailey to the fullest. Stacey has an extensive doll background.
Dea & FreddyO: Wow, we have written about you both. Stacey we really admire what you are doing with your organization!
Cynthia Bailey: It was an honor to work with Stacey and The One World Doll Project on my doll. I knew I was working with the best in the business.
Dea & FreddyO: Will we get a Peter doll to go with our Bailey Agency Doll?
Cynthia Bailey: Well, you know that did come up tonight!
Dea & FreddyO: You know Barbie has Ken. I am just saying! Our Bailey Agency Doll needs her guy!
Cynthia Bailey: Well it was not in the plan. But you never know when it comes to Peter and me.
Dea & FreddyO: Well ladies we are ecstatic about your doll and the amazing things that will come out of this launch. Do you have anything to share with our audience?
Stacey McBride-Irby: I am excited about this partnership with Cynthia and Prettie Girls!
Dea & FreddyO: Hey tell us more about Prettie Girls!
Stacey McBride-Irby: Prettie Girls is a multicultural doll line for our girls who have not seen a doll that depicts their beauty. We wanted to create a product that resonates with our little girls and our women.
