Rapper J. Cole is taking a page from Queen Bey’s book, and releasing his next album without dropping any singles! He will also be holding a contest for a lucky fan to win a trip to his childhood home for the album’s listening party.
Check out the details below!
North Carolina rapper J. Cole has announced that his forthcoming album, entitled ‘2014 Forest Hills Drive,’ will be released without singles to promote it! The album is due December 9, available for preorder on iTunes, and is named after the address of his Fayetteville, NC childhood home that he recently purchased in June of this year.
Also, Cole let fans know on his website Tuesday that they would actually have an opportunity to win a visit to ‘2014 Forest Hills Drive’ for a listening party for the album! The statement Cole released read as follows:
What’s good? This is Cole. I just bought my old crib back. This is the house I started rapping in at 13 years old. 2014 Forest Hills Drive. As a kid, moving into this place changed my life in so many ways. Too many to type. Unfortunately, the house was foreclosed from my mother when I was 18 and I always dreamed of buying it back one day for closure. It’s the first house I have ever owned.
My new album is called ‘2014 Forest Hills Drive.’ I’m not dropping any singles. I want you to hear the album straight through, front to back. The only way to hear the album before its release is to enter for your chance to be invited to my house, 2014 Forest Hills Drive Fayetteville, North Carolina 28303. There are very limited spots. Good luck.
And please take your shoes off before you walk in my crib!!!
In addition to this, the rapper also posted a reflective trailer on the contest entry page to promote the release of the album which you can view below.
