Jay-Z has scored a legal victory over a British chef and his catering business. The “Evening Chronicle” is reporting that a court in the U.K. has upheld Hov’s appeal, preventing reality TV star Terry Miller from using the name Rockafella for his catering company. Miller can, however, use the name for his restaurant, although that has since closed. Miller, who won the British reality competition “Hell’s Kitchen” in 2005, was first sued by Jay-Z in 2006. The rap icon claimed Miller’s use of the name Rockafella infringed on the trademark rights of Jay’s label, Roc-A-Fella Records.
Miller initially won a ruling, allowing him to call his business Rockafella when a judge decided the two names would not clash. A recent hearing resulted in a different conclusion, as the court ruled that the music and catering industries were not that far apart. Miller is now considering whether or not to appeal the ruling.
