He wasn’t in the building, but that didn’t stop Kanye West from dominating Sunday night’s Grammy Awards. The hip-hop superstar swept the rap categories, as his single “All of the Lights” won Best Rap/Sung Collaboration and Best Rap Song. Kanye’s single with Jay-Z, “Otis,” won Best Rap Performance, while Kanye’s album “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy” took home Best Rap Album. Chris Brown was also a winner on Sunday.

Making his return to the Grammys since his now infamous altercation with Rihanna in 2009, Chris won the first Grammy of his career with Best R&B Album for “F.A.M.E.” Cee Lo Green and Melanie Fiona’s “Fool For You” also had a successful night, winning Best Traditional R&B Performance and Best R&B Song.

Adele was the evening’s big winner overall. Her hit “Rolling in the Deep” won Record and Song of the Year, while her album “21” claimed Album of the Year.
 Sunday night’s ceremony also took a few moments to recognize Whitney Houston. Host LL Cool J began the ceremony by leading the audience in a prayer, while Jennifer Hudson delivered a performance of Whitney’s hit single “I Will Always Love You.” Rock legend Paul McCartney closed the show by dedicating his performance of “Golden Slumbers” and “Carry That Weight” to Whitney.

 The late Etta James was also remembered on Sunday. Alicia Keys and Bonnie Raitt teamed up to perform James’ single “A Sunday Kind of Love.”

Other artists who performed on Sunday night included Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, and Chris Brown. The 54th Grammy Awards were handed out during a ceremony at Los Angeles’ Staples Center and broadcast live on CBS.
