Lil Wayne Asks Fans To ‘Stop Sending Me Mail’

(10/6/2010) Lil Wayne recently revealed to MTV’s “The Seven” that since he began serving his sentence, he gets more than 100 pieces of fan mail a day. And while he said that he actually waits for the letters to come, he’s now asking fans to stop sending mail. Lil Wayne’s recent trip to punitive segregation won’t extend his stay at Rikers Island. MTV News is reporting that the emcee is still expected to be released in early November, despite being busted back in May for having a pair of headphones and an MP3 charger behind bars.

A message posted to Weezy’s Twitter page on Wednesday (October 6) read: “I can no longer write my fans, as difficult as this maybe to say please stop sending me mail, I luv u and will see you soon.”

A spokesman for the New York City Department of Correction explains, quote, “It’s a serious infraction because it’s contraband, but it’s not a weapon.” He says Weezy is just now being sent to punitive segregation because jail officials have to prioritize inmates based on the severity of their infractions.

Lil Wayne began serving a one-year sentence for weapons charges in March. Just last month, he released his latest album, “I Am Not A Human Being,” digitally. The record will arrive in stores on October 12th.
