Mary J. Blige is covering Ebony magazine’s October issue and looking every bit of fabulous! While Mary shows off her curves in a tight fitting leopard print dress and some super huge earrings, she dropped some interesting conversation in the magazine.
Mary J. Blige revealed to the magazine that “I got up and read the message about her death and just lay back down again. I kept getting up and laying back down for some reason. I’d always wanted to work with Amy, so I just couldn’t believe it really. And then it hit me—that could have been me. That really could have been me!â€
Thankfully, we still have the diva here with us and more music to look forward to. Can you imagine the world if Mary J. Blige had been taken by drugs or alcohol?
It really could’ve been her. I remember watching her Behind the Music special, looking in awe, not knowing that her addiction was that bad. Thank God she was able to kick her old habits before it was too late. RIP Amy. That would’ve been a sicc collaboration if the two of them got together though.
No disrespect to Mary but her life- trials and tribulations have been well documented in her music, the headlines and the rumor mill. Please don’t use the unfortunate passing of someone else to further your “how I got over” speech. Continue to do your music and live your life, your legacy will one day speak for itself. As a talent Mary has improved and reinvented herself and her brand to stay relevant down through the years. As a singer, (albeit not nearly as vocally gifted as her predesesors)
she has made her own unique mark on the music world. She doesn’t have to testify every chance she gets. If that’s the case then just write a tell all book like every body else and keep it moving.
