For the first time in history an Indian-American is Miss America.
Miss New York or Nina Davuluri is beautiful, she plans to attend medical school, and she proved to be culturally intriguing by performing a Bollywood fusion dance for the talent portion of the competition.
However, even with beauty and brains on her side, people still found something to hate on.
After Nina won the Miss America title, some very racist tweets began to flood her timeline with people calling her everything from an Arab, to a terrorist.
However, Nina is not at all worried about what people think of her.
She said:
“I have to rise above that. […] I always viewed myself as first and foremost American.”
