The Major League Baseball Players Association is looking into whether Jay Z broke the rules by giving New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano a lavish birthday present. You won’t believe what it was!!! Get the deets below!
According to ESPN, the hip-hop mogul presented Cano with a $33,900 Hublot watch for his 31st birthday last month. The gift may be a violation of the union’s rule stipulating that no agent shall give a player money or another valuable item that would encourage the player to remain with that agent or their firm.
While the union does allow agents to give players gifts, they must be disclosed in writing if they exceed 500-dollars in value. If Jay did violate the rules, he could be subject to disciplinary action.
Earlier this year, Jay Z launched his own sports management company, Roc Nation Sports. Apart from Cano, Jay Z also represents WNBA player Skylar Diggins, NFL quarterback Geno Smith, NFL wide receiver Victor Cruz and basketball star Kevin Durant.
