MTV will be rapping old-school again next month for one night only. TheWrap.com reports the network is planning to bring back the hip-hop show “Yo! MTV Raps!” for a one-off episode dubbed “Yo! MTV Raps Classic Cuts.”
The 30-minute retrospective is scheduled to air December 4th on MTV2 after the first-ever “Sucker Free Awards,” which start at 11:00 p.m. Eastern.
It will feature former hosts Fab 5 Freddy, Ed Lover and Dr. Dre, as well as the artists behind three hip-hop classics — A Tribe Called Quest’s “Scenario,” Geto Boys’ “My Mind’s Playing Tricks on Me,” and Ice Cube’s “It Was a Good Day.”
Some of today’s most popular emcees will also be taking part, including Wiz Khalifa, DJ Khaled, Questlove, Mac Miller, Common, Fat Joe and more.
Ed Lover calls it a “great moment to be reconnected with ‘Yo!,'” which originally aired from 1988 to 1995. He adds that looking back at the classic songs originally featured on the show makes it “clear that hip-hop would inevitably transcend distance and generations.”
Um…..I think I remember this but not to sure
I’ll be tuning in, i was just a baby when the show originally aired so it should be interesting!
