Chris Brown is enlisting the late singer Aaliyah for his forthcoming single “They Don’t Know.” Speaking at a press conference for the 2013 BET Awards Tuesday, Chris announced that the follow-up to his single “Fine China” will feature previously unreleased vocals from Aaliyah, who passed away in 2001. Both “Fine China and “They Don’t Know” will appear on Chris’ sixth album “X,” which hits stores on July 16th. Chris filmed the music video for the “They Don’t Know” single over the weekend in Los Angeles. Brown says he went to “the ‘hood” to shoot the video in an attempt to “uplift the poverty side of the community.” Even though he grew up in Virginia, Chris says he can relate to the community because many people in his community came from “a broken home” or poor families.
Chris Brown isn’t the only artist looking to resurrect Aaliyah’s music. Last year Brown’s rival Drake featured Aaliyah on his track “Enough Said.” Drake is also looking to release an album of never-before-heard songs by the late singer.
Brown Says:
“I shot it in the hood. I went to the Cedar Block. Bringing both worlds together and trying to uplift the poverty side of the community and show them where I’m from. I’m from Virginia, but everybody comes from a broken home or being broke. I remember when I was.”
