During a recent promo tour, Atlantic/CBE recording artist Sevyn Streeter paid a visit to the Detroit high school that was attended by the late singer Aaliyah. After the visit to the school, Streeter was inspired to pen an open letter to Aaliyah which she posted on her blog:
“From the bottom of my heart, I want to say THANK YOU & I LOVE YOU because you taught me it’s sexy to be cool and it’s cool to just be you!”
Streeter also paid tribute to her music idol by performing her own stirring rendition of Aaliyah’s 2003 hit “Come Over”.
You can check out Streeter’s acoustic performance of “Come Over“ below:
Kudos to Sevyn Streeter for paying homage to Aaliyah through the beautifully written open letter and her performance of Aaliyah’s “Come Over”. Aaliyah has always been one of my favorite artists and does not always get the props and respect that she deserves. Streeter’s tribute to Aaliyah was well done and very befitting.
What do you think of Sevyn Streeter’s version of “Come Over”?
