Nivea Meets the Mayor of Port-au-Prince, Haiti

DSC_0013

The President of Haiti, Rene Preval, recently held an event in Atlanta, Ga to raise money for the impoverished nation of Haiti (August 5). Yes, this is the man WYCLEF is attempting to oust. It seems as if many people have put Haiti on the back burner since the January earthquake of 2010 that broke the country’s infrastructure…well, except for Wyclef. The ex fugee member has been at the forefront of providing aid to Haiti, and has decided to run for president…but MANY question his motives. My girl Nivea also came out to support the president and his endeavors, along with many other individuals. Check out all the pix below!!

***Editors Note: The dignitary featured in the pictures is the Mayor of Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

President of Haiti? Well, if he’s the President of Haiti, he did get going with rebuilding that country. Where’s all of that money that was donated? This poor country government is so corupt. Millions of dollars went to help those poor people, and they are still living out doors. Give those people over there jobs rebuilding that place, and stop stealing all the money.

First of all this is not the president of Haiti. Nor do any of the pictures show the president. I don’t know who gave you the wrong information but you really need to do your research. Also the money that the country was suppose to receive is now a major issues every greedy individual in Haiti wants to run for office. Yes I am here in my country and I have lost respect in human beings. I was educated in the states and came back to help my country and we the first slave free country is a laughing stock. We kill, kidnap, rape, enslave children and sell our own. This is wrong and now we fire guns at night because WYCLEF is running for president. What we need is laws, a real gov’t and a real president that hasn’t been living in the states. Come to Haiti and see what is going on. See what the news isn’t allowed to show you. I am not asking for money but I am asking for people to be more informed and educated. The country of Haiti is populated with children and no ones wants to go to school. They are trying to survive the only way they know how by being in gangs. The same gangs that help presidents gain power and run the country.

  7. Thank you for covering the reception held at the W Hotel. The dignitary mentioned in your article is Mayor Jean Yves Jason of Port Au Prince Haiti. I currently help run PR in the United States for Mayor Jason. He is not the president of Haiti nor is he running for that office. I attached a link to a site which will give more information to why he was in Atlanta. He was here to raise funds and awareness for rebuilding efforts in Haiti. He is currently on an international campaign to restore hope to his people, galvanizing the support of the international community to build up not only infrastructure, but the people who were effected by the earthquake. To the other readers who commented about resources allocated to help Haiti (i.e. Red Cross, United Nations, US Federal Government, etc) please keep in mind LESS THAN 2% OF MONEY RAISED TO HELP HAITI HAS ACTUALLY MADE IT TO THE COUNTRY. There is still cause for awareness to this issue!!

Feel free to contact me with any inquiries. I appreciate you updating your site information. Thanks
