ASCAP held their 29th annual ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Awards last night at the Beverly Hills Wilshire hotel in Los Angeles. The dope event is a wonderful way to kick off the 2016 BET Experience weekend. I had the opportunity to see some and catch up with some of the hottest stars in Hip Hop from Remy Ma to Wale to Tribe Called Quest to Atlanta’s very own Andre 3000.
Check out the details after the break.
ASCAP held it’s 29th Annual ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Awards last night at the Beverly Hills Wilshire hotel in Los Angeles. The industry only event was all about celebrating hip hop. The dynamic 90’s trio, A Tribe Called Quest was awarded, with the Golden Note Award.
Atlanta’s own Andre 3000 of Outkast took the stage to present the award to the trio, and Busta Rhymes hit the stage to perform a tribute to the group as well as reflect on their influence on his career. The Golden Note award is one of the highest awards ASCAP gives to artists, songwriters, and composers. ATCQ also took a moment to pay tribute to member Phife Dawg who recently passed away.
Top ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Award winners included Mary Mary’s Erika Campbell, Fetty Wap, The Weekend, Jeremih and more. The awards show also featured performances from Wale, French Montana, Remy Ma, and more!
