Rapper Yung Joc’ addressed accusations that he was connected to the robbery where thieves stole more than $70,000 worth of equipment from his northwest Atlanta studio. The homie told ATL’s WSB that he had nothing to do with the robbery.
Yung Joc’, whose real name is YaMar Jon Robinson, said thieves took nearly everything in sight, including microphone jacks from the walls. He also said the robbers took a hard drive that included songs he’d never released. “(They took) my speakers, TVs, my recording equipment,†Joc said.
Yung Joc’s Studio Robbed
Police were called to the studio on Dec. 18. Joc said his brother and his brother’s girlfriend were outside the small home when someone forced them inside, taped their mouths, put zip ties around their wrists, forced them into the bathroom and then cleaned out the place.
The robbers took upward of $70,000 worth of equipment. Joc said they also took the irreplaceable material on his hard drives.
“I’ve got songs with Jasmine Sullivan, Lil Wayne, Pitbull – I mean, big name artists,†Joc said.
Joc said he’s offering a $2,500 reward for whoever gets his drives back to him.
And he says rumors that he was involved in the robbery are false.
“I’ve been seeing stories where people say this is about insurance fraud. The truth is, I did not have insurance. I was in the process of deciding who I wanted an insurance policy with,†said Joc.
He said he’s now essentially starting from scratch.
“It’s a lot of work,†he said.
Atlanta police continue to investigate, but so far, no arrests have been made. Joc said he plans to leave his Boyd Avenue location.
