The R&B and hip hop community is still missing one of the genre’s greatest talents.

Sunday marked the 12 year anniversary of Aaliyah’s untimely death.

The singer died on August 25, 2001 when her plane crashed shortly after take off in the Bahamas.

The Brooklyn-born singer was headed home from filming her “Rock The Boat” music video when the tragic incident happened.

Aaliyah Dana Haughton was only 22 years old.
