As “The Oprah Winfrey Show†prepares to end next year, the TV host’s longtime boyfriend Stedman Graham went on a rant Saturday about the lack of props she’s been given in her home base of Chicago.
“I really don’t think they appreciate her. I don’t think they understand the value of who she is as a human being and what she’s done,†Graham said of Chicagoans in an interview with WFLD-Channel 32 news.
Graham was promoting a golf event taking place over the weekend for Athletes Against Drugs, a charity he founded. But when one of the anchors mentioned that the idea of Winfrey leaving town has yet to sink in for a lot of people, it apparently triggered some latent frustrations.
“I’m just saying from an insider’s point of view that I don’t think she gets her just due based on who she really is and what she’s done for the Chicagoland area. It’s home for her, and it’s just natural for people to kind of take her for granted — until you leave,†Graham said.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, he pointed out that Winfrey reaches 20 million people a day in 115 countries, has done charitable work across the world and has drawn a lot of attention to Chicago.
“A prophet has no honor in its own town,†he said.
Asked if he will go to California with Winfrey, Graham said that though he intends to keep his business here, “I probably will be moving in that direction.â€
The interview with Graham appeared to get off to a rocky start when an interviewer asked if she could call him “Mr. Oprah Winfrey.â€

Stedman, bruh please, we know what she has down for Chicago, but she really did not address that crazy crime to the black community when all those innocent educated students were killed or beaten senseless, did not invite their families to discuss matters, did not recognize Feb was black history month, not mention Lena Horne yet when it comes to white artists,musicians she gives them praises, like have the cast of white films, while black films get no love unless you are Tyler Perry ,Wil Smith or Chris Rock. Stedman we all know you are Oprah’s beard, you like to rock the boat on the other side, you are he sidepiece for the media. Stedman you need to fall back she been taking of you for a long time,fall down and chill out. If she did such great things, you would not need to rant of it, look at Michael Jordan, he gets no love from Chicago and his home state of NC for he is as fake as Oprah you know, until Oprah realizes under that weave(yes) that her roots are coarse, nappy and she is black,she will not recognized. She is not all that, money or no money.Remember what she did to Mo’Nique and her brother? For a woman who says she was abused as child, why would she respect Mo’Nique and let her clown brother get no camera or attention for the pain he did to her is evident and let it stood there, but to invite da bastard,molester on the show, shows she has no common sense at all. You wonder why folks watch Mo’Nique and Wendy Williams -who have black guests, no ones who are favorites as Oprah(Will Smith and Jada could put on a book on snots- O would give it full coverage, but let a real African American film of merit or book comes out, no love at all- unless it hits the NYTimes Best Seller list and has no choice to give some light- maybe a a 5 min segment) You wonder why she needs to go over, that is not the Oprah who made the Color Purple who was humble and has love for her people and love herself and not what corporate thought she should be.
