Pull up! Rewind and come again! The 2013 BET Awards was taken to a whole new level with a reggae music set during the show. Grab your tropical cocktail and check the performance inside!
No one was ready for the surprise tribute to reggae at the 2013 BET Awards. We didn’t see it coming, but when it came, it was a party! The New York based sound system Massive B provided the tunes as legendary reggae artists Dawn Penn, Chaka Demus & Pliers, Beenie Man and Elephant Man brought Jamaica to L.A.
Dawn Penn performed her oldie-but-goodie hit “No, No, No” in front of a backdrop of dancers doing sensual slow grind dancing. Even India.Arie sang along, as well as Nicki Minaj who hopped out of her chair and danced as Chaka Demus & Pliers sang “Murder She Wrote.” Beenie Man and Elephant took the tribute up another notch with their hits, and as the camera moved to the audience we saw Kevin Hart and Gabrielle Union also in the groove.
